WTF is this BS with the drone avionics skill CCP?

Today I see I only have Drone Avionics 3, and I see this BS in the patch notes: "In the Kronos release the required skill for Drone Link Augmenters was changed from Combat Drone Operation to Drone Avionics. This was done without ensuring that players who fulfilled the skill requirements of those modules would still do so after the change. In this patch we are bumping up the level of Drone Avionics for all players to the same level that they had Combat Drone Operation when we deployed Kronos. Players who have trained Drone Avionics in the meantime will be given unallocated skillpoints instead up to the amount that their skill would have been adjusted." WTF is this crap? You convert Skill A to Skill B and then come along weeks later and reduce my level in it because it allowed the use of some module? Where was this announced? How does this make any sense at all. This unannounced skill change you made goes 100% against a published dev blog.

CCP says "we are changing the name of Skill A to Skill B". It makes sense that I should get skill B at the same level I had skill A at no? Why should I lose 2 levels of a skill I already trained because they decided to attach some module's prereqs to that skill? To make that worse it was done without any mention in advance. If they just say they are doing this I could at least train it.

There's a reason why GÇ£clear you cacheGÇ¥ is step #1 on pretty much all problem-solving lists related to EVE. Of course they made this change, it is spelled out right there in the patch notes. My problem with the change is that it was completely unannounced and it is completely contrary to a published dev blog.

I seriously don't understand how they run a script like this against the production database skill tables without some sort of testing. I would be fired from my job if I did things like this.

All chars had CDO 3 or 4 (can't remember) before the patch, but none had 5. Right now, 2 characters show the GM Skill Gift lvl 3 but still have Drone Avionics 5, and 2 characters show the GM Skill Gift lvl 3 and have Drone Avionics 3. So the script not only was derped, but didn't derp equally on all accounts.

From the patchnotes is so clearly an unintentional side effect, that I a not worried (lost 5->3). It will be fixed tomorrow or in a few days the latest. Yeah, the way I initially read the patch notes it sounded to me like it was an intentional change (it's early in the morning here, can't read yet lol)

Just want to point out here the usual Tippia smug...and then they just vanished from the thread when proven wrong. Seriously man not everyone is a raging idiot and you don't have all the answers. At least he has the decency to just walk away when proven wrong. I've seen more than one windowlicker here keep on trying, even after being dunked by a dev. I edited my post the first day after drinking some coffee and rereading the patch notes when I realized it was a bug and not an intentional change. Of course it's still not fixed so I'm guessing they don't really know how to fix it. I mean at this point can CCP just give everyone drone avionics 5 and call it a day? I mean how many people really didn't have scout drone operation 5 anyway? So some noobs get a small SP gift and the rest of us get to use the modules we should be able to again.
